Day 9-10: 5/27-28/11

Weight (early evening, 5/28): 287.8 lbs.
Total change so far: -9.7 lbs.

The last two days have been busy, getting moved into our new apartment. As such, meals have been hard to come by.

Thursday: Prepackaged kale & chorizo soup, 1 beer
I realized after opening the soup that it contained potatoes. I must’ve been a sight, standing by the trash at work, digging them out and flicking them away in between bites.

Friday: 1/4 lb. hamburger patty, sautéed onion, yellow pepper, and tomato, sliced dill pickle, black beans, 1 tsp mayo, 2 beers
This meal was amazing. It could’ve been the fact that it didn’t come until nearly 10 pm – I find that food tastes much better when I’m actually hungry, a condition rarely experienced before – but everything was delicious!
I need to stop with the beers. My new neighbor – a former roommate of mine – is a bad influence!

Planning on bumping up my cheat day to tomorrow (Sunday), and leaving it there henceforth. Decided not to be miserable at the Memorial Day picnics I’m attending. Besides, I had a couple more beers after midnight. More on that later….

Day 8: 5/26/11

Dinner: Romaine salad with yellow peppers, cucumbers, carrots, black beans and sausage. Olive oil & sriracha dressing.

Other than that, I had a few small snacks but no real meals. A couple beef tips at work, and some baby carrots in the afternoon. Can’t wait until this weekend. It’ll be much easier to keep good slow-carb meals on hand when we have a place to ourselves.

Day 7: 5/25/11

Lunch: Corned beef and broccoli

Dinner: “Fajitas” – grilled chicken, sautéed onions, peppers, and mushrooms, fresh salsa, guacamole, romaine leaves

Day 6: 5/24/11

Weight: Unknown…likely won’t have access to a scale until at least this weekend.

Lunch: Refried beans, fresh salsa, grilled chicken breast

Dinner: Boiled broccoli, guacamole, grilled chicken breast

No breakfast today. I slept in and wasn’t very hungry after yesterday’s binge. Moving this weekend. Planning to get a scale, bodyfat measuring device, and take accurate measurements for more thorough information in future posts.

Day 5 (Cheat): 5/23/11

My first cheat day!

Breakfast: Cheese Danish

Lunch: Massive amounts of popcorn and root beer while watching Pirates 4. As many others have said, it was long and predictable. And fun! They’re all long and predictable. It’s high adventure, what do you want? As long as they keep making them, I’ll keep seeing them. 3D still fails to impress me.

Dinner: Pizza it is. 3/4 of a large meat lover’s. I was planning on ice cream and beer, but I just don’t have the room. Sad part is, before starting this diet, a day like today would’ve been normal, or even light!

Day 4: 5/22/11

Weight (mid-day): 291.5 lbs. (-2.5 lbs; -6 lbs. total)

Breakfast: 4 egg whites, 2 whole eggs, 7 slices turkey bacon

Lunch: 8 oz. hamburger patty, boiled asparagus

Dinner: Corned beef and sauerkraut

Tomorrow’s my first Cheat Day. Psyched for pizza, beer, and ice cream! My 2 lbs/day pace seems to be continuing, though I expect to gain a couple pounds tomorrow. I don’t plan on going crazy – I’m really not all that hungry, and I’d like to keep it that way.

Day 3: 5/21/11

Weight (mid-day): 293 lbs.
(EOD): 294 lbs. (-1.5 lbs; -3.5 lbs total)

Lunch: Salad – romaine, asparagus, Snapea Crisps, turkey bacon, pan-grilled chicken tenderloins; dressing – olive oil, cider vinegar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, egg (terrible!)

Dinner: Same as lunch, plus 2 hard-boiled eggs. Light Italian dressing in place of god-awful homemade.

Eating less is becoming easier. I’m not sure whether to attribute it to lower glycemic index, shrinking stomach, or psychosomatic response. Probably a combination of the three. I ate less today than either of the past two days, and yet lost less weight than I did yesterday. It’s obviously too soon to look for trends, but I don’t think skipping breakfast today helped. I’ve never been much of a breakfast person, and the idea of being upright and aware enough to make and eat breakfast within a half-hour of waking sounds exhausting. ‘Til next time.
